The Oklahoma Nutrition Information and Education (ONIE) Project promotes the use of locally grown produce to enhance nutrition and healthy lifestyles across Oklahoma. In collaboration with the University of Oklahoma and community partners, ONIE empowers individuals and families through bilingual education and initiatives, fostering sustainable food choices and supporting local farmers to improve overall community well-being.
ONIE’s primary objective was to promote the use of local produce among Oklahoma residents. The initiative focused on raising awareness about the benefits of fresh, locally grown food while supporting farmers and strengthening local agricultural economies. Through community outreach and education, ONIE aimed to connect people with nutritious options and encourage sustainable food practices in the state.
In collaboration with the government, App Maisters proposed developing an intuitive and user-friendly mobile app for EBT-accepting vendors at farmers’ markets across Oklahoma. The app facilitates token-less transactions, enabling vendors to track sales and purchased items effortlessly. It also streamlines reporting and payment processes for market managers, providing real-time insights into vendor performance. By digitizing and optimizing the farmers’ market ecosystem, this app promotes healthy living, fosters economic growth in the agricultural sector, and enhances overall well-being within Oklahoma communities.
