Stryker Project Management team approached App Maisters to help them visualize progress on several projects running within the company. They were using multiple project tracking and resource management systems to perform unique operations. Resource management system was not visible to project management and had no direct links in place. The product commercialization arm uses totally a different system which was also not linked to Project Management application. Their Key business objective was to leverage available data and provide reporting to identify what can be done meet projects timelines. Lack of resource availability is some departments was the key problem which was identified by App Maisters while developing the BRD.
In order to boil down to the problem, App Maisters first created a Business Requirements Document (BRD) that listed the stakeholders, system personas and their key needs as well as elaborated the key business drivers. App Maisters worked on identifying possible ways to extract and reconcile the data and provided reporting from various source systems keeping in mind the need to integrate with their resource management system.
Based on the analysis, it was concluded that the right information was missing through project approval and execution, due to which, many projects needed resources at the same time. App Maisters team, working with the client, came up with high-level visuals using Power BI which turned reporting tools into Decision Support tools.
The client was extremely happy and was able to visualize the data needed to make quick decisions on how and when to time allocate resources to different projects. They also understood the need to tightly integrate their project management system with resource management.
