Sole Power is a green commuting challenge that began in 2011 with the aim of encouraging community participation in environmentally friendly transportation methods. The program, which runs from Memorial Day through Columbus Day, allows participants to track their mileage and carbon emissions. To date, Sole Power participants have logged over 506,372 miles. The program promotes walking, biking, running, and other non-motor vehicle commutes, offering social events, mini-competitions, and prize drawings throughout the season.
OBJECTIVE
The primary objective was to develop a mobile app that simplifies trip tracking for participants. The app aims to make registering, tracking, recording, and logging trips easier and more convenient. It will be available for free on both iOS and Android devices, as well as through a web-based portal, enabling users to engage with the Sole Power program effortlessly.
SOLUTION
App Maisters designed and developed a comprehensive mobile app for iOS and Android, along with a web-based portal, to streamline the Sole Power program. The app features easy user registration, team creation, GPS trip tracking, manual trip entry, and access to past data. It offers route recommendations, turn-by-turn navigation, and integrates social features to enhance community engagement. The app also includes leaderboards, goal-setting functionalities, and a rewards system, ensuring an engaging user experience. Secure data storage and robust administrative tools enable effective management of users and teams. The app is fully branded to match Sole Power’s identity and supports English and Spanish languages, ensuring broad accessibility.
